Subject: Collaborative Programming for RISC OS
Newsgroups: comp.sys.acorn.announce
Date: Thu, 6 Aug 1998 14:51:12 +0100 (BST)
From: Andrew Flegg <andrew@jaffasoft.co.uk>

In recent weeks there have been a number of postings to
csa.programmer and other groups about the need for a way for RISC OS
developers to get together and help each other with big projects.

A few months ago a colleague and I had a similar idea (the early
website is still online at: http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/~charlest/)
but due to a distinct lack of spare time never developed it fully.

Our idea was simple - provide a community for developers to share
ideas via a web site (and maybe mailing list).

The web site would be based around a series of projects (either
ideas for them or actual coding projects) into which developers
could post snippets of code, ideas etc. and remove their own posts
when someone suggested something better.

Each project would be owned by a small group of people who would
oversee that project's development - it would be possible to transfer
ownership to other people if necessary.

However, as stated above we don't have the time to do this as fully
as we'd like - so we need help, if you've got any ideas or are willing
to help to get this long overdue resource online please email us:

    mailto:arcadia@jaffasoft.co.uk

Discussion is of course welcome on the newsgroups.

Cheers,

Andrew
